Request to use Photography studio
This is the email I sent to the photography studio technician (Colin), to request access to the studio when it is available, so I can eventually take photos for my magazine.
Colin then replied to my email with the dates he had available so I could arrange it further with my band members and select a suitable time to go to the studio.

Simpsons Task
For one of my Media tasks I was required to create a movie poster for the release of The Simpsons movie. I created this using Photoshop and used varies images sourced from the web to create the image above. The reason I had to do this task was to show basic Photoshop skills I would need to create my final product. I was able to do this easily as I have had experience of Photoshop before doing this task.
Front Cover Fonts and Other useful fonts
The fonts above are fonts that I am considering using for my Front cover on my magazine. Each of the above go with the theme I am trying to create on my magazine however the 2 that i mostly like are 'Watchmen' & 'Butch and Sundance' and I may use either of them for the cover title of my magazine.
Watchmen
The reason I like 'Watchmen' font is because its very minimalist and not too hard to read, also the bold lettering and black blocks make the title stand out and attract the eye of the audience.
Butch & Sundance
The 'Butch & Sundance' font is a mixture between retro and Rock, The slanted edges give it that ACDC rock inspired look with the elegant decorations at the side take away some of that edge and give it a more "indie" look.
Various other fonts I could use in my magazine
The fonts above are fonts that I may use within the magazine for things such as page titles, Headings and Sub-headings. I have found a various mixture from bold lettering to thin lettering as I want to separate the differences between different uses if text within an article.

The 'Recce'
I have been handed questions on the 'recce' that may sabotage my production. I will be answering these questions via video post.
Potential problems with my coursework

How I will deal
with this problem
|
Front cover images
|
I may run into a problem when I try to find a studio to
take my photos in. I can work my way around this by planning a different
suitable location to take my photos. I may also struggle to find a model that
will allow me to take photos of them and find a suitable costume for the
magazine cover.

Article Inside
Magazine
|
I may find that I have gone into so much detail using
images that it attracts the attention away from the written article. I can
avoid this by ensuring that my written article is not subdued by too much
going on around it such as images, colours and text.
|
Images to accompany
article
|
If I take my images in a public area such as a gig I can
arrange an area that I will be able to take photos without any crowd interference.

Theme (article)
|
The theme of my magazine is based on a mixture between Kerrang & NME using very heavy colours, grungy text and images however I will also use clean cut text and well written articles to create an appealing looking magazine. |

I will be using my friends’ band as the main image on the

require.

This table shows what my main goals and aims for my magazine are. They include what sort of audience I am aiming for, The selling point of the magazine and the theme. I will use this and tailor my magazine to these requirements.

College Magazine Front Cover
I was required to create a magazine front cover and contents page for the college magazine. Above I have provided both images of the contents page and front cover.
Front Cover Breakdown:
What I have tried to achieve with the front cover of the magazine is a very vibrant and fun look to the magazine by using different colours to keep the reader engaged and attract the persons eye. I have tried to introduce different fronts so the text is not plain and boring as well as introducing mild humour with a centred image of a student reading "Electoral Role for Dummies" as I introduced the student council elections. The title I have selected for the magazine is "The WearStudent"trying to build a similarity between Wear and We Are. I have also priced the magazine at a suitable £1 as through audience research I have found that students do not wish to spend large amounts of money on magazines.
For my contents page I have gone for a green white and blue themed paper. I think the use of these colours are very good as it creates an appealing and fun look to the contents of the magazine. I have used 2 photos sourced from the internet and used them for articles 3 & 4. However the rest of the photos on this article I acquired myself. What I like about this contents page is that its very easy to navigate and find what you are looking for in the magazine. The heading of the contents page, I have used different fonts to make the page look different rather than the same boring text all the way through it.

Induction Magazine Article - Green Day
For my Media Induction task I was requested to create a magazine article that would suit my magazine. I would like to use this as a mock piece and progress the piece that is magazine worthy and really showcase the band I am writing about.
Analysis:
From my opinion I think this is a good article, However. I don't think its the best article in the world. What I don't like about my article is that its very bland and doesn't fit the theme of the actual band I'm writing about. The article is a very plain design that really highlights the articles written contents, rather than the visual aspect of it. If I was to do this article again I would create a more appealing magazine that would not bore the reader with its visuals, and rather entertain with both colour and vibrant writing. How i'm going to do it, is that I'm going to look and research other magazines. And how they have visualised their articles and created a piece that suits the artist they have written about.

MOOD BOARD ANALYSIS
On the image below I have analysed my mood board I created to research into things I wanted to include in my magazine. I have really tried to get into depth about certain elements of the other magazines features that hopefully I would like to include in mine.

Front Covers
AS MEDIA STUDIES
For the AS Media Studies coursework I have been asked to create my own Music Magazine, that has to include the following:
- Front Cover
- Contents Page
- DPS (Double Page Spread)
- Orignal Photos/ Articles
FRONT COVER
The reason I have chosen the 3 images from an NME magazine is because this is the style magazine I am aiming to achieve once I have completed my magazine.
The Style Magazine I am aiming to achieve is an indie/rock magazine. With the use of very Mono-tone colours such as: Blacks,Greys and whites however I do think these colours will make the magazine very dull so I plan to highlight certain articles with bursts of very bright pallet colours and liven my front cover up.
What I like about the front cover on the left is the vibrance of the artwork on the article. Things such as colours, photos and text, all liven the piece up this drags in the attention of the reader. You can see who the main article is about as the bands title is stretched right across the centre of the magazine. The colours used are American themed using Reds, Whites and Blues this insinuates that the band are American or they are doing a tour of america.
This front cover is from Kerrang! straight away you can see that the band Paramore is the main article, as Haleigh Williams has a full page photo across the right hand side of the magazine the heading proves this with the bands name and the subheading says "Hayley answers your questions" This catches the audiences attention as it speaks to them in third person. On this front cover they have used medium sized sell lines on the left side of the page, along with pictures of the bands they are featuring in that magazine and have also included smaller sell lines at the bottom of the page.
Colour theme: Yellow,Black & White
What I like: What I like about this magazine is the layout of it. It crams everything into a small space without making everything look messy and merged together.

The NME magazine featuring The Wombats is a good example of the usage of sell lines. Each direction away from the main image you have a sell line to do with what is inside this issue of the magazine. The colours used are very powerful and attract the eye of the audience.
What I like: I like the colours used as they are very attractive to the eye. I love the image used to represent the band as it seems very fun and gives the band an exciting appeal. The fonts used on this are very bold and powerful and suit the colour theme used.
