AS MEDIA STUDIES
For the AS Media Studies coursework I have been asked to create my own Music Magazine, that has to include the following:
- Front Cover
- Contents Page
- DPS (Double Page Spread)
- Orignal Photos/ Articles
FRONT COVER
The reason I have chosen the 3 images from an NME magazine is because this is the style magazine I am aiming to achieve once I have completed my magazine.
The Style Magazine I am aiming to achieve is an indie/rock magazine. With the use of very Mono-tone colours such as: Blacks,Greys and whites however I do think these colours will make the magazine very dull so I plan to highlight certain articles with bursts of very bright pallet colours and liven my front cover up.
What I like about the front cover on the left is the vibrance of the artwork on the article. Things such as colours, photos and text, all liven the piece up this drags in the attention of the reader. You can see who the main article is about as the bands title is stretched right across the centre of the magazine. The colours used are American themed using Reds, Whites and Blues this insinuates that the band are American or they are doing a tour of america.
This front cover is from Kerrang! straight away you can see that the band Paramore is the main article, as Haleigh Williams has a full page photo across the right hand side of the magazine the heading proves this with the bands name and the subheading says "Hayley answers your questions" This catches the audiences attention as it speaks to them in third person. On this front cover they have used medium sized sell lines on the left side of the page, along with pictures of the bands they are featuring in that magazine and have also included smaller sell lines at the bottom of the page.
Colour theme: Yellow,Black & White
What I like: What I like about this magazine is the layout of it. It crams everything into a small space without making everything look messy and merged together.

The NME magazine featuring The Wombats is a good example of the usage of sell lines. Each direction away from the main image you have a sell line to do with what is inside this issue of the magazine. The colours used are very powerful and attract the eye of the audience.
What I like: I like the colours used as they are very attractive to the eye. I love the image used to represent the band as it seems very fun and gives the band an exciting appeal. The fonts used on this are very bold and powerful and suit the colour theme used.
